1. Washer Capacity & Rug Size Matching Guide

Before washing, please check the capacity of your washing machine (measured in cubic feet (cu. ft.)). Your rug should have enough room to move freely inside the drum during the wash cycle. Never attempt to force a rug into a washing machine that does not provide sufficient drum capacity.

For Compact Washers (2.2 cu. ft. or Larger)

Ideal for small accent rugs and short runners.

Note: While an 8' × 10' rug may fit in a 5.5 cu. ft. home washing machine, we recommend using a commercial-capacity washer whenever possible for the best cleaning performance and easier handling.

2. Step-by-Step Washing Instructions

To help preserve the beauty and longevity of your SERISSA rug, please follow these care instructions.

Pre-Clean Preparation

Before placing your rug into the washing machine, take it outdoors and shake away loose dirt, dust, pet hair, and larger debris. For stubborn pet hair, we recommend using a vacuum cleaner or a rubber broom before washing.

Loading the Rug

Fold or roll your SERISSA rug loosely with the patterned surface facing inward to help protect the printed design. Place the rug evenly inside the drum to maintain balance during the wash cycle.

Water Temperature

Always wash using cold water.

Cold water helps preserve the rug's fibers, backing, colors, and overall construction.

Wash Cycle

Use the Gentle or Delicate cycle whenever available.

Avoid Heavy Duty or Intensive wash cycles, as excessive agitation is unnecessary for SERISSA's low-pile, stain-resistant construction.

Detergent

Use a mild liquid laundry detergent that is free of bleach or harsh chemicals.

Do not use powdered detergents unless they are completely dissolved before the wash cycle begins.

3. Important Care Tips

Do Not Use Bleach

Never use bleach, chlorine-based cleaners, or harsh chemical stain removers.

These products may:

  • Damage the printed design
  • Fade colors
  • Deteriorate the non-slip TPE backing
  • Reduce the lifespan of your rug

Avoid Fabric Softeners

Fabric softeners may leave residue on the rug fibers, reducing stain resistance and affecting overall performance.

Drying Instructions

Air drying is strongly recommended.

Lay the rug flat or hang it in a well-ventilated area until completely dry.

If using a dryer, select Air Fluff or No Heat only.

Never tumble dry using medium or high heat, as excessive heat may warp, stiffen, or damage the non-slip backing.

Wash Separately

To maintain the best appearance and color over time, we recommend washing your rug separately from clothing, towels, bedding, or other household textiles.

Temporary Creases

Because SERISSA rugs are shipped folded or rolled for transportation, temporary creases or fold lines may appear after unpacking.

These are completely normal and are not considered product defects.

Most creases will naturally relax within several days after laying the rug flat. Larger rugs may require up to two weeks depending on room temperature, humidity, and placement.

4. Additional Care Notice

Although SERISSA rugs are designed to be machine washable, washing machine capacities vary by manufacturer, model, and drum design.

The washer capacity recommendations provided in this guide are intended as general guidelines only.

Customers are responsible for confirming that their washing machine is suitable for the size and weight of the selected rug before washing.

If you are uncertain whether your home washer can safely accommodate your rug, we strongly recommend using a commercial-capacity washing machine.
